Who We Are
|
|
House of Hope serves people from all walks of life, in the greater Metro-Atlanta
area, who are dealing with drug addiction, domestic abuse, abandonment, teen
prostitution, homelessness, and at-risk youth. Our belief is a more holistic
approach is needed to address the issues involved with domestic abuse,
addiction and homelessness rather than simply placing a band-aid on the outward
manifestation of the problem. Therefore, we address the internal aspect of the
problem as well. House of Hope has partnered with area churches and community
organizations to provide a full array of support for each individual including;
individual and group counseling, support groups, mentoring program, life skills
training, job training, and aftercare. Our goal is to provide a solid base upon
which to build lives; lives that will be self-rewarding and self-supporting,
allowing them to become productive members of society.

| Our Founder
|
|
Gloria Harrell opened
the House of Hope Outreach Ministry on February 3, 1997. Through hard work and
total dedication to Jesus she has turned a vision into reality. The vision
started from a drug and alcohol related tragedy that resulted in the loss of
Gloria’s sister, Charmaine. It is in Charmaine’s memory that the House of Hope
Outreach Ministry is dedicated. Gloria’s passion for the ministry also stems
from her overcoming addictions, abandonment, abuse and depression, sickness,
tragedies, and the loss of loved ones. She knows what it is like to be
desperate and without hope. Gloria states “through the power and love of God,
He has set me free. It is by His grace that I walk. God has blessed me
abundantly with a godly husband, children, grandchildren, and a very successful
business. He has placed in my heart a vision to restore lives as he did mine.
My heart’s desire is to set the captives free.”

| Who We Help |
|
Broken hearts are all around us.
More than one million children have no place to call home each night.
Almost 75% of Americans are battling with dysfunctional family problems and
addictions. More than 31 million people in the U.S. go hungry every night
-- more than 12 million are children. And 88 million people suffer from
alcohol or drug-related problems.
God has commissioned us to go forward in His name to impact the hurting with His
love and compassion.
"Thank you House of Hope for all your love, attention and support to our family.
We are celebrating 11 months sobriety on February 13, 2004. We give God all the
glory!!" --
Lori
"When I made three months sober, Rhonda, the Director of Family Services, gave
me a diploma & serenity coin. I carry that coin to remind me of the past,
present & future – one step at a time. House of Hope is truly a blessing
from God." --
Jeff
"I was amazed at all the things offered in this program had to offer, it was
exactly what I needed to get me back on my feet again. I feel the transitional
housing program is a life saving program. I know House of Hope has been a God
send to me. I am truly grateful for all they have done for me." --
Jane
"I don’t know what I would have done without them." --
